"Stoplight" - Notes on an Origninal Song

This post was originally written when the album "California" came out, about George's original song, Stoplight:

The second track on California is “Stoplight.”  Its definitely a love song.

“No one knows me like you,” is the first line. It’s about someone that knocks you off your feet.  I think we have all had that sensation. That initial gut feeling that says, hey, this person gets me.

They understand me on another level. That kind of feeling is a Stoplight.

It’s a simple song, but very direct. The lyrics cut to the chase.

That’s what I try to do in my writing, as much as I can -- just say it.

My favorite section in “Stoplight” is in the bridge:

“Honey, you’re the reason. That keeps me from leavin’. You’re the one thing, I can’t live without.”

That's a love song.

On the recording, my favorite thing is Pete Anderson’s guitar solo.

It’s so Country and so modern at the same time. Very original and cool. One of the best elements on the CD.

I also love the organ on this track. It really brings you in.
